Abasgadzhi Magomedov reached the final of the pre-Olympic Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship in a new weight category up to 65 kg. Before that Abasgadzhi had been competing for a long time in the weight category up to 61 kg, where he managed to become world and European champion.
Abasgadzhi started his performances with 1/16 finals, where he confidently defeated Alikhan Isayev with the score 2:12.
In the next bout, in 1/8 finals, he defeated Ramazan Ferzaliev with the score 2:10.
And in the 1/4 finals he rolled over Magomed Tazhudinov with the score 11:0.
In spite of the fact that Abasgadzhi tried himself for the first time in a new weight category, he fought very confidently with all opponents, and simply showed a high level, a master of his craft.
In the semifinals of the Russian Championship, his opponent was a promising wrestler from Dagestan Ibragim Ibragimov, who is the current world champion U23. This bout Abasgadzhi as well as all other fights, held very confidently, maximally showing his capabilities.
Abasgadzhi defeated Ibragimov with the score 2-5 and went to the final, where his opponent will be the current champion of Russia in this weight category, bronze medalist of the World Championship - Shamil Mamedov.
