On 12 May, the reigning cup winner ‘Urartu’ and ‘Ararat-Armenia’ met in the final of the Armenian Cup. The main and extra time of the match ended in a 1-1 draw. The winner was decided in a penalty shootout.
Both goals in the match were scored in the first half. Mikael Mirzoyan put Urartu ahead on 31 minutes, and Alexis Rodriguez levelled the score on 38 minutes, by the way the Argentine scored a goal in the third match in a row, before that he did not score at all.
After that there was a viscous and sharp game, the teams could not print any more goals and the game went to a penalty shootout.
Ararat-Armenia won the 11-metre penalty shootout with the score 5-3. Arsen Beglaryan pulled out Zhirair Margaryan's shot and Kamo Hovhannisyan scored the decisive penalty.
‘Ararat-Armenia’ gets the right to play in the second round of the Conference League qualification. The 4th place team will play in the first round of the LC qualification, Urartu, Alashkert and Ararat are competing for this place.
If Ararat-Armenia becomes the champion, the team from the second place will play in the second round of the Conference League.
