Today, June 18, was the second day of the BRICS Games freestyle wrestling competition, where the tournament medalists in all weight categories were determined.
Arkady Poghosyan, playing for the Belarusian national team, became the bronze medalist of the tournament, defeating Kazakhstan's Nurzhan Isagaliev with a score of 3:1. During the match, our wrestler was slightly behind with a score of 1:1 (the last point belonged to the Kazakhstani). In the last seconds of the fight, Arkady made a successful pass into the opponent’s legs, earning 2 points and winning a bronze medal.
Arkady began his journey in the tournament from the quarterfinals, where he was defeated by Russian vice-champion Malik Shavaev with a score of 1:10. Fortunately, Malik made it to the finals, which opened up the possibility for Arkady to fight for a medal, and he was able to take advantage of this chance.
