Today, 11 May, the World Olympic qualification in freestyle wrestling started in Istanbul, where four wrestlers from Armenia took part.
Hrayr Alikhanian (74kg), Mushegh Mkrtchyan (86kg), Sergey Sargsyan (97kg) and Leva Gevorgyan (125kg) were in the Armenian team. None of them managed to make it to the semi-finals, but Alikhanian, Sargsyan and Gevorgyan still have a chance for the consolation block, where 1 quota in each weight will be played. The consolation block will be held tomorrow, 12 May.

74kg:
Hrayr Alikhanian (Armenia) - Shamil Ustaev (Germany) 7-0.
Hrayr Alikhanian (Armenia) - Chermen Valiev (Albania) 0-10.
86 kg: Musheg Mkrtchyan (Armenia) - Gwanuk Kim (South Korea) 1-8.
97 kg: Sergey Sargsyan (Armenia) - Habila Avusaiman (China) 0-11.
125kg:
Leva Gevorgyan (Armenia) - Gennady Chudinovich (Germany) 11-0
Leva Gevorgyan (Armenia) - Day Zhiwei (China) 0-4.
For Armenian wrestlers to get a chance for the consolation block, Chermen Valiev (Albania), Habila Avusayman (China) and Day Zhiwei (China) must win in the semi-finals. But Mkrtchyan's opponent has already lost his bout in the 1/8 finals.
Let us remind that Armenia has two licences in freestyle wrestling so far: Arsen Harutyunyan (57 kg) and Vazgen Tevanyan (65 kg).
