According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of Armenia (MONCS), after the conclusion of the 2024 Olympic Games, Armenian weightlifters visited the "Armenian Olympic House" in Paris, where they interacted with fans and journalists.
Olympic silver medalist Varazdat Lalayan expressed gratitude for the congratulations and the opportunity to meet with the Armenian community:
"Thank you for such support. We felt great warmth both in the gym and in the 'Armenian Olympic House.' Thank you for the support and for being with us. I am very happy with this medal. Of course, we came here with other goals, but we have what we have."
Weightlifter Gor Minasyan, competing under the flag of Bahrain, also thanked everyone for their support:
"You enthusiastically supported all our athletes and attended the competitions. In these huge halls, the cheers of our fans and the Armenian flag were always present. It was very pleasant. Thank you for the support. After the European Weightlifting Championship in Yerevan, this was one of the best venues filled with Armenians."
Four Armenian weightlifters competed in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Andranik Karapetyan placed 7th in the 89 kg weight category, Garik Karapetyan was 4th in the 102 kg category, and Varazdat Lalayan won silver in the over 102 kg category. Another Armenian weightlifter, Gor Minasyan, competed for Bahrain and won bronze in the over 102 kg category. Gor Minasyan was coached by the Armenian national team coach, Pashik Alaverdyan, but represented Bahrain because Armenia had filled its quota and could not enter two athletes in the same weight category.
