Semen Danilyants, a multiple Armenian figure skating champion, was born in 2006 in Moscow. He has been practicing figure skating since he was 3 years old. In 2021, he began representing Armenia in major international competitions. In September 2021, he made his debut at the Junior Grand Prix stage, where he achieved the technical minimum required to participate in the Junior World Championships in March 2022.
At the "Santa Claus Cup" competition in Hungary, he won a bronze medal, and at the "Icelab International Cup" in Italy, he won a silver medal. Participating in the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), he placed 4th. At the adult competitions in the "Abu Dhabi Trophy," Semyon made history for Armenian figure skating by landing a quadruple jump – a 4T (toe loop) and a triple Axel (3.5 rotations), securing 2nd place.
In the fall of 2023, Semyon placed 6th at the Junior Grand Prix stage in Armenia and qualified for the 2024 Senior World Championships.
At the World Championships held in Montreal, Canada, from March 18 to 24, after a clean short program featuring two ultra-C jumps (triple Axel and quadruple toe loop), he placed 23rd out of 40 participants and qualified for the free skate.
In the free skate, Semen executed three ultra-C jumps (quadruple toe loop, triple Axel + triple toe loop, and triple Axel), which allowed him to climb the leaderboard to 22nd place. This is the best result in the history of the Armenian national team. It is worth noting that Semyon was the youngest among all participants, being only 17 years old.
Semen Danilyants has already started preparing for the qualification tournaments for the 2026 Olympic Games. For this, he needs to perform well at the 2025 World Championships.
