On July 4, the draw for the preliminary and main qualification stages of the UEFA Futsal Champions League took place in Nyon, Switzerland.
As a result of the draw, it was revealed that the Armenian futsal champion, FC Yerevan, will compete in Group D. The Armenian club's opponents will be Manchester Futsal from England, the Turkish club Şişli*, and the Dutch club Tigers Roermond. The group stage matches will take place from August 20 to 25.
For Yerevan, advancing past the preliminary stage will open the doors to the main round of the tournament. In this case, the winner of Group D will join Group 6 of the main round. There, they will face the champions of Serbia and Latvia in futsal, KMF Fon Banjica and Riga Futsal respectively, as well as the winner of Group A of the preliminary round.
*The sports club Şişli was founded by the Armenian community of Istanbul and remains a center of Armenian identity in Turkey.
In 1946, it was reestablished as the Şişli Sports Club through the initiative of former administrators Kirkor Misakyan, Ara Aginyan, Parsegh Gevorkyan, and Arshak Ferukhan. At the recent 2023 Pan-Armenian Games in Yerevan, basketball and volleyball players from the Şişli club participated.
In the 2023/24 season, Şişli became the Turkish futsal champion for the second consecutive time and will compete in the Champions League.
