On August 6, the 2nd day of the 2024 Olympic Wrestling Competitions in the 77, 97 kg Greco-Roman and 50 kg women's wrestling weight categories is taking place in Paris.
The legendary wrestler of his time, 4-time world champion and 7-time European champion Artur Aleksanyan participated in the 97 kg weight category as part of the Armenian national team.
Artur started the tournament with a confident victory, confirming his status as a favorite. In the 1/8 finals, he easily defeated the representative of Korea Seungjun Kim with a score of 9:0. In this fight, Artur confidently controlled the situation on the ground and ensured a comfortable transition to the next round.
In the 1/4 finals, his opponent was Uzbek wrestler Rustam Assakalov. At the moment when the score was 1:5 in favor of Artur, an accidental episode of violation occurred on his part. After a second ground and roll, the score was tied at 5:5 in favor of the Uzbek wrestler. However, Artur would not be Artur if he could not get out of such a difficult situation.
