In the final of the 97 kg weight category, Iranian wrestler Mohammadhadi Sarawi and the legendary Armenian wrestler Artur Aleksanyan met. In the fight for the gold medal, the Iranian Sarawi won, using Aleksanyan's mistake and earning two key points. The Armenian team tried to use the opportunity to appeal, but this did not bring results. In the end, Sarawi won with a score of 4:1 and became the new Olympic champion.
