Head coach of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling team Gogi Koguashvili answered questions on the topic of who will go to the Olympic Games in the weight category up to 97 kg, as well as other various questions about the Olympic lineup.
- We have never seen Musa Yevloev and Artur Sargsyan fight in the weight category up to 97 kg. Tell us, will they have a joint tournament?
Gogi Koguashvili: - Again, everything depends on Musa's admission to international competitions. Yes, they haven't fought each other in competitions, but they train together, help each other to grow. Of course, the tickets to Paris have not been bought yet, and there will still be chances, but it's hard to talk when some guys are not allowed. I can only repeat that at the moment the priority is given to those who have won licenses.
- At last Sergey Kutuzov was allowed to participate in international starts, but Sergey Stepanov has been winning the Russian Championship for two years in a row. Does Stepanov have a chance to make the Olympic roster?
Gogi Koguashvili: - Unfortunately, Sergey Stepanov is still on the stop list, he has no access to international starts. Of course, he is in the roster, but he still doesn't have a permit, and the time is getting shorter and shorter. In addition to Stepanov, we have similar problems with access to Olympic champion Musa Yevloyev (up to 97 kg) and European champion and world championship medalist Emin Sefershaev (up to 60 kg). They are also continuing their training, preparing, and we hope that they will compete for a place in the Olympic team.
