As RIA Novosti reports, Russian runner Nina Zarina (Usubyan) has changed her sports citizenship and will now compete for Armenia.
Nina has received permission to compete for Armenia in international competitions. This is reported on the website of the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics).
The 37-year-old athlete's profile says that she now represents Armenia.
Nina specializes mainly in marathons, and in the United States she won a super long 60 km race - Wings for Life World Run.
Since 2019, Nina has been residing in the USA with her husband Maxim Usubyan. Verotiano, she is from her husband and received Armenian citizenship. In social networks, the athlete writes her name as Nina Usubyan (Zarina).
But it is not yet known whether she will compete in international tournaments. Nina gave birth to a boy at the end of 2023.
"I already moved my existing registrations for the Houston and Boston marathons to the next year. There will also be an iconic USA Olympic Trial in February 2024. The Wings for Life World Run is always on my list. To be honest, I even have a long-term plan of races for the next two Olympic cycles", Nina Zarina said in 2023 before giving birth.
