Daniil Medvedev is ranked fourth in the world ranking of men's tennis. Therefore, he is often considered by bookmakers (BC) as a favorite for Grand Slam tournaments and other top competitions. However, now BCs doubt the possible triumph of the Russian in 2024.

"Roland Garros and the 2024 Olympics: no chance on dirt
Daniil often confesses in interviews how he doesn't like to play on the ground. But these are not just words. The results are really deplorable. At the French Open - Roland Garros - the Russian has never reached even the semifinals. In 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023, he was eliminated after the first match. In 2021, he reached the ¼ final, where he eventually lost to Tsitsipas (0-3). In 2022 Medvedev reached only ⅛ of the final. Then he was defeated by Cilic (0-3).
The 2024 tournament is scheduled for May 20-June 9. Predictions for Daniel are disappointing. Bookmakers estimate Medvedev's triumph at Roland Garros from 12.00. Better chances are given to Rune (from 9.00), Nadal (from 5.00), Cinner (from 4.20), Djokovic (from 3.20) and Alcaraz (from 2.50).
It's a similar situation with the Olympics. Medvedev reached the quarterfinals at the last Games. However, they were held on hard court, which is also used at the Australian Open. Medvedev does better on this surface, and he is often projected as the favorite to win on hard court.
The Olympic Games 2024 will be held from July 27 to August 4, and the surface will be dirt. Consequently, even here BCs do not believe in Daniel. The odds for victory are from 21.00. For comparison: the odds on favorites Alcaraz and Djokovic are from 2.70.
"Wimbledon": grass won't bring luck either
Medvedev does not like to play on a grass surface either. Particularly at the British "Wimbledon". In 2017 he crashed out in the second round, in 2018 and 2019 - at the third stage, in 2021 - in ⅛ of the final, and in the tournaments of 2020 and 2022 Daniil did not participate at all.
The Russian did squeeze into the top-4 once - at last year's Wimbledon. Then he reached the semi-finals, but lost to future champion Carlos Alcaraz. By the way, at the current British tournament, the Spaniard is one of the main favorites. Alcaraz or Djokovic's victory is priced at 2.70. Next comes Cinner (from 4.50). And only then Medvedev (from 15.00). Wimbledon itself is scheduled for July 1-14.
U.S. Open: the only chance for success
The US Open holds a special place in Daniil's heart. In 2021, he won his first and so far only Slam. Also in his career there were 2 US Open finals (in 2019 and 2023) and one semifinal (in 2020).
The 2024 event will take place from August 26 to September 8. According to BC, Medvedev has a better chance at it than at other major tournaments. His first place is quoted from 8.00. Only Cinner (from 4.50), Djokovic and Alcaraz (both from 2.30) are higher in the list of favorites.
