A large group of Dagestani wrestling legionnaires will try to take the last chance to get to the Olympic Games in Paris.
This opportunity will be presented at the final stage of Olympic qualification - the World Tournament on three styles of wrestling, which will be held from May 9 to 12 in Istanbul.
Dagestani freestyle wrestlers representing seven countries were included in the preliminary application lists for participation in the tournament published on the UWW website: Bahrain - Alibeg Alibegov (65 kg), Khidir Saipudinov (74 kg), Magomed Sharipov (86 kg) and Shamil Sharipov (125 kg); Northern Macedonia - Rasul Shapiyev (74 kg), Akhmad Magomedov (86 kg) and Magomedgadzhi Nurov (97 kg); Bulgaria - Ramazan Ramazanov (74 kg) and Magomed Ramazanov (86 kg); Tajikistan - Abdulmazhid Kudiev (65 kg); Hungary - Murad Kuramagomedov (74 kg); Greece - Dauren Kurgliev (86 kg); Uzbekistan - Magomed Ibragimov (97 kg).
In Istanbul, freestyle freestyle wrestlers will take to the mat after the “classics” and girls and in two days, May 11-12, will play 18 licenses - three in each of the six Olympic categories.
Recall that the first stage of qualification was the World Championships-2023 in Belgrade, where the participants contested five tickets to Paris in each weight, the second stage were four continental tournaments, each of which played for two licenses in each category.
Among Dagestan legionaries Zelimkhan Abakarov (57 kg, Albania), Ismail Musukayev (65 kg, Hungary), Zhavrail Shapiyev (86 kg, Uzbekistan), Akhmed Tajudinov (97 kg, Bahrain) and Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg, Azerbaijan) overcame the qualification barrier at the first attempt. Magomedhabib Kadimagomedov (74 kg, Belarus), Osman Nurmagomedov (86 kg, Azerbaijan) and Yusup Batyrmurzaev (125 kg, Kazakhstan) succeeded in continental tournaments.
