On August 9, the fifth day of the Olympic Wrestling Games is taking place in Paris, and today freestyle wrestlers in the 74 kg and 125 kg weight categories took to the mat for the first time.
In the 1/16 finals of the 74 kg weight category, Dagestani wrestler Razambek Zhamalov, representing Uzbekistan, met with the current Olympic vice-champion from Belarus, Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov. It was not easy to determine the favorite of the fight, since both wrestlers are students of the Dagestani school. Nevertheless, the fight ended with a convincing victory for Zhamalov with a score of 8:0. This became a real sensation, since the vice-champion of the Olympic Games was eliminated from the tournament at the 1/16 final stage and could not distinguish himself in any way. Now Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov can only wait for Razambek Zhamalov to reach the final of the Olympic Games to get a chance for a bronze medal.
In a parallel fight in the same weight category, Iranian athlete Younes Emami and European Championship medalist representing Italy, Frank Chamizo, met. In this fight, Emami won a confident victory with a score of 9:4.
In the 1/8 finals, Razambek Zhamalov defeated the European champion from Slovakia, Ossetian Taimuraz Salkazanov, with a score of 11:4. In order for Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov to have a chance at a bronze medal, Zhamalov will have to win two more fights.
