Former captain of the Armenian national football team, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, gave an interview to Artak Aleksanyan at the Newmag / Summerfest-2024 festival, where he discussed several important topics, including his career's end with the national team and his family life.
Mkhitaryan candidly spoke about his chances of returning to the Armenian national team, emphasizing that everything has a beginning and an end.
"It is better to end one step early than two steps late. It's better if you make this decision yourself rather than someone else. I can say that I do not regret any decisions I made, both in my football career and beyond. I am satisfied with my decisions and the path I have taken. Some people might say I could have had a better or worse career, but I believe none of us can escape our fate. We must accept what we have and be thankful to God for everything He has given us. Unfortunately, the door to the national team is closed for me," said Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The 35-year-old footballer shared his feelings about the birth of his second child for the first time. In 2023, Mkhitaryan's daughter, Lilia, was born in Milan, named after Henrikh's maternal grandmother.
"With the birth of the second child, many things changed. Life gains new meaning with children. You start living for them, doing everything to ensure they, and therefore you, feel good," said Mkhitaryan.
The footballer admitted that he spends a lot of time with his children. He believes that raising a child is a real art and enjoys the process of upbringing, daily learning, and repetition.
Speaking about his son Hamlet, Mkhitaryan noted that he loves football very much and is very passionate about it, but he must pave his own way, of course, with his father's help.
After the interview, Mkhitaryan spent time with his fans, signing autographs and taking photos with them.
