Elina Avanesyan defeated Romanian Jacqueline Cristian 7-5, 6-4 in two sets and will play in the semifinals of a WTA 250 series tournament for the first time in her career.
In the semifinals of the WTA Iasi tournament (Romania), the 21-year-old Armenian will face 30-year-old Frenchwoman Chloé Paquet, who is ranked 106th. Avanesyan and Paquet met once in 2023, with Elina winning in three sets.
The semifinal will take place this evening, July 25.
