Elina Avanesyan initially failed to pass the tournament's qualification, losing in the final qualifying round to British tennis player Harriet Dart. However, due to the tournament's regulations, which allow some players who lost in the final qualification round to take a place in the main draw if other players withdraw, Elina received a second chance to compete.
In the first round of the main draw, Elina Avanesyan will face 24-year-old Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu, who holds the 166th position in the WTA rankings.
