Armenian tennis player Elina Avanesyan will participate in the main draw of the prestigious WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open. This opportunity came about thanks to her status as a "lucky loser" after one of the participants withdrew from the tournament.
Elina Avanesyan initially failed to pass the tournament's qualification, losing in the final qualifying round to British tennis player Harriet Dart. However, due to the tournament's regulations, which allow some players who lost in the final qualification round to take a place in the main draw if other players withdraw, Elina received a second chance to compete.
In the first round of the main draw, Elina Avanesyan will face 24-year-old Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu, who holds the 166th position in the WTA rankings.
Participation in WTA 1000 series tournaments offers players the chance to gain valuable experience and earn significant ranking points. It is also a great opportunity for Elina Avanesyan to showcase her potential and strengthen her position in world tennis.
The Cincinnati Open traditionally attracts the best players in the world, and participating in it is a step forward for any tennis player. We wish Elina success in the upcoming match and hope for her successful performance. It should be noted that this is her first tournament as an Armenian tennis player. Before the start of the tournament, she received an Armenian passport and changed her sporting nationality.
