In one of the fights, French judoka Joan-Benjamin Gaba and two-time Olympic champion from Japan Hifumi Abe met. Although the favorite of this match was the Japanese, the French athlete did not share this opinion. As a result, in extra time, at the 4th minute and 50th second, Joan-Benjamin defeated the favorite, earning ippon.
