In the Serbian city of Novi Sad, the first final bouts of the 2024 European Championship in freestyle wrestling for boys under 17 took place. On June 29, medals were contested in five weight categories, and Armenian wrestlers succeeded, winning medals in four of them.
The Armenian team won one gold and three bronze medals. Gagik GagikGhazaryan (55 kg) became the European champion by defeating Russian Baisongur Osmaev in the final. Three other Armenian wrestlers won their bouts for bronze medals.
A tense bout took place in the 80 kg weight category between an Armenian and an Azerbaijani wrestler. Saak Hovhannisyan managed to secure victory in the final moments through sheer determination.

Final 55 kg: GagikGhazaryan (Armenia) - Baisongur Osmaev (Russia) 7-3.
