On July 29, Borussia Mönchengladbach played their third friendly match of the preseason. The German team won by a minimal score against Holstein Kiel, with the only goal of the match scored by Armenia's national team player Grant-Leon Ranos.
The Armenian forward came on immediately after the break and scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute. Ranos has scored in all three friendly matches before the start of the season — against Wegberg-Beeck, Fortuna Sittard, and Holstein Kiel.
