38-year-old para-powerlifter Greta Vardanyan (61 kg) won bronze at the ranking tournament in Tbilisi and secured a Paralympic quota. She is currently the only representative from Armenia with a license, but the qualification period is still ongoing, and we may secure additional quotas.
Greta Vardanyan (born Khndzrtsyan) lost both her legs during the Gyumri earthquake in 1988, when she was 2 years old.
Previously, Greta Vardanyan has participated in the Paralympic Games 4 times—once in the Winter Games as a skier (2006, Turin) and three times in the Summer Games as a weightlifter (2008, 2012, and 2016).
