Armenian representative Gurgen Madoyan (71 kg) won his second victory at the Olympic qualification in Bangkok and made it to the 1/16 finals.
This time Madoyan defeated Il Hyok Kim of North Korea by unanimous decision. Gurgen won all three rounds by judges' scores.

Madoyan's next opponent is Junior Petanki of Canada, who won 5-0 in Shane Boniface of Seychelles.
Madoian needs 3 more wins to get an Olympic quota, but in the 1/4 finals, if he loses, there will be another chance for a quota in a mini-tournament between the losers of the 1/4 finals, as there are 5 quotas in this weight class, not 4 as in the other weights.
