On August 8, at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, boxing matches were held in four weight categories. Finals took place in two of them, and semifinals in the other two.
Olympic champions were determined in the weight categories up to 51 kg for men and up to 54 kg for women. Semifinals were held in the weight categories up to 57 kg for men and up to 75 kg for women.
In the final of the men's 51 kg weight category, the Olympic champion was Hasanboy Dusmatov from Uzbekistan, who defeated Frenchman Billal Bennama. For the 31-year-old Uzbek boxer, this is his second Olympic gold after Rio 2016. Dusmatov brought Uzbekistan its third gold of the Paris Olympics. Earlier, gold medals were won in judo and taekwondo. Another Uzbek boxer, Abdumalik Khalokov, advanced to the final in the 57 kg category today.
The Olympic champion in the 54 kg weight category for women was 27-year-old Chang Yuan from China, who defeated Hatice Akbaş from Turkey in the final.
