Gevork Diarbian, a 22-year-old Armenian footballer from the USA, plays for the MLS club's second team, New England Revolution II, in the MLS Next Pro league.
His maternal grandfather, Levon Tovmasyan, was a footballer in Armenia and instilled a love of football in Gevork. Diarbyan started his career at the New England Revolution academy and then played for Providence College, where he was a team leader. In 2024, he signed with Revolution II and continues to make an impact on the field. His dream is to represent Armenia at the international level.
This season, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has scored 2 goals and made 3 assists in 17 matches in the MLS Next Pro league. Several times, he has been listed on the New England Revolution's main team in the MLS but has not yet played.
"My grandfather introduced me to 'Barcelona' and Messi. My father was born in Lebanon, but he is 100% Armenian, and my mother was born in Armenia. My parents moved here at a very young age. I would like to play for the Armenian national team.
We have had talks, and I think they want to see me a little more, to see how I feel in professional football, and just how I develop further. I need to make my contribution to make a name for myself, and hopefully, I can play for the Armenian national team. That is my main goal," said Gevork Diarbian in an interview with Armenian Weekly
