On August 6, the 2nd day of the 2024 Olympic Games wrestling competitions in the 77kg, 97kg Greco-Roman and 50kg women's categories is taking place in Paris.
In the 1/8 finals in the 50kg women's wrestling category, Olympic champion and four-time world champion Yui Susaki from Japan met with Indian athlete Vinesh Phogat. Throughout the fight, the Japanese maintained a 2-point advantage, but at the end of the fight, she lost her balance and fell, allowing her opponent to earn 2 points. The Japanese team tried to challenge the decision with a challenge, but it was to no avail. As a result, the current Olympic champion dropped out of the fight for gold already at the 1/8 finals stage.
Yui Susaki had been unbeaten since 2015 and had never lost a game before. But the slightest mistake ended her legendary streak and almost sent her out of the tournament.
