The 2024 World Youth Weightlifting Championships (U17) ended in Lima, the capital of Peru. The Armenian national team finished 5th in the men's team standings in points, behind Georgia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Kazakhstan. Armenia has only 2 big silver medals and 4 small medals - 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
In terms of medals, Egypt took first place for men and Venezuela for women.

2. Kazakhstan - 6 medals (3 gold, 3 silver).

Results of Armenian weightlifters at the tournament in Lima:
SILVER - Hovhannes Hovhannisyan (61 kg) + small silver in snatch, small gold in jerk - 242 kg (108+134).
5 - Narek Grigoryan (67 kg) - 265 kg (120+145).
DSQ - Serezha Barseghyan (73 kg). 4th place in snatch, then got injured and did not perform - 125 kg in snatch.
5 - Ashot Gasparyan (81 k) - 290 kg (130+160).
SILVER - Valerik Movsisyan* (89 kg) + small gold in snatch and small bronze in jerk - 329 kg (153+176).
9 - Gagik Mkrtchyan (+102kg) - 313kg (140+173kg).
6 - Meri Misakyan (64 kg) - 186 kg (84+102).
*It is interesting that Valerik Movsisyan with his result of 89 kg would be the champion in 96 kg and in 102 kg, and in +102 kg would take the 4th place.
