As it is known, the Russian team did not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Usually, Russia plays a significant role in the Summer Olympics and competes for a large number of medals. In the absence of the Russian team, some countries managed to increase their medal counts in disciplines where they might have had fewer chances if Russians had participated. This is especially true for synchronized swimming, freestyle wrestling, women's fencing, and men's taekwondo.
Based on the analysis of the medals from the 2020 and 2024 Olympics, no country has clearly benefited from Russia's absence. Eight countries won two gold medals in those disciplines where Russia had gold in Tokyo.
Countries that won gold medals at the 2024 Olympics in the sports where Russia won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics:
Ukraine - 2 (total 3 gold).
Japan - 2 (total 20 gold).
South Korea - 2 (total 13 gold).
China - 2 (total 40 gold).
France - 2 (total 16 gold).
USA - 2 (total 40 gold).
Uzbekistan - 2 (total 8 gold).
Iran - 2 (total 3 gold).
Italy - 1 (total 12 gold).
Bahrain - 1 (total 2 gold).
Tunisia - 1 (total 1 gold).
Czech Republic - 1 (total 3 gold).
Interestingly, one gold medal each for Uzbekistan and Bahrain was won by Russian legionnaires, wrestlers Razambek Zhamalov and Ahmed Tazhudinov.
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Russia won 20 gold medals, which placed it 5th in the medal standings. In Paris, only a few Russian athletes participated as neutral athletes, and they won 1 silver medal in women's doubles tennis.
Of course, in Paris, the Russians might not have won medals in these disciplines, but they could have won gold in others. For a general understanding, one can compare the winners of Tokyo and Paris.
