In April, the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) appealed against the suspension of Olympic referee Alexei Bazulin, published on the official website of the United World of Wrestling (UWW). The article stated that referees were disqualified for different periods of time, including the Russian Alexei Bazulin was suspended until June 30. The FSBR filed a protest, which was successful. Alexey Bazulin's disqualification has been canceled. This is reported by WRESTRUS.RU.
The appeal was considered during the world qualifying tournament in Istanbul (May 9-12) and the European U-23 Championship in Baku (May 20-26). The actions of each referee of the bout between Italian Frank Chamizo and Azerbaijani Turan Bayramov at the Jewish Olympic license tournament (freestyle wrestling) were examined in detail. After a technical analysis, it was found that there were no errors on the part of the Russian referee Alexey Bazulin, and all decisions and consultations were correct, as a result of which Alexey Bazulin's suspension from refereeing was annulled.
Despite the decision of the UWW, we can confidently say that Bazulin had mistakes in the bout Chamizo-Bairamov, which influenced the outcome of the bout. It is a pity that because of the decisions of one man, we will not see the legendary wrestler on the mats of Paris.
