On August 7, in Paris, the Olympic medalists in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight categories up to 77 and 97 kg were announced in the evening program.
Two Armenian wrestlers met in the fight for the bronze medal in the weight category up to 77 kg: Aram Vardanyan, representing Uzbekistan, and Malkhas Amoyan from Armenia.
In a tough fight between the two Armenians, Malkhas Amoyan won with a score of 6:5. After the end of the fight, he did not loudly celebrate his victory, but instead hugged Aram Vardanyan and calmed him down.
