On June 30, the U-17 European Freestyle Wrestling Championship ended in Novi Sad, Serbia. On this day, Georgian freestyle wrestler Konstantin Petriashvili became the European champion in the weight category up to 92 kg, having won a convincing victory in the final over the Greek Nikolaos Karavanos with a score of 10:0. He became a real discovery of the tournament, having played 4 matches, including the final, and scoring a total score of 42:4. He lost these four points in a duel with a Russian opponent, but this did not prevent him from winning a convincing victory with a score of 12:4.
Last year, Konstantin also showed good results on the international stage, winning two bronze medals at the European and World Championships. However, 2024 marked a new milestone for him in his career.
Konstantin Petriashvili is the younger brother of world champion and Olympic medalist Geno Petriashvili. In the future, he may become a worthy replacement for his older brother on the international stage, and it is only a matter of time. Konstantin has a bright future, supported by the experience of his titled older brother, who always helps him in his sports career.
