Armenian MMA fighter Nair Melikyan (14-2 MMA) made his debut in bare-knuckle boxing very successfully, if not for the judges' decision.
At the RCC Hard 8 tournament within the lightweight grand prix, the Armenian athlete fought against the undefeated star of the RCC league, Amir-Arslan Akhmedov, who had 8 wins in bare-knuckle boxing and no losses.
Nair started the fight very well, landing several powerful punches on his opponent in the first round. The second round was more measured, with the fighters hitting less and rarely connecting; Akhmedov landed one accurate punch, which could have given him the round. In the third round, Melikyan simply destroyed his opponent; for more than a minute, Amir-Arslan could not recover, taking punch after punch.
Everyone was confident in Melikyan's unequivocal victory, including the commentators and the hosts of the evening. However, the judges awarded the victory to Amir-Arslan Akhmedov by split decision.
