The draw for the boxing tournament at the 2024 Olympics took place in Paris. Boxer Davit Chaloyan, representing Armenia, learned his first opponent in the over 92 kg category.
In the round of 16 (+92 kg), which will take place on July 29, Chaloyan will face 27-year-old Delicious Orie from Great Britain. This is not the first time these two boxers have met in the ring. In 2023, at the European Games, they already clashed in the quarterfinals, and the Briton won by unanimous decision of the judges. However, according to many experts, the fight was equal, and Chaloyan has every chance for a rematch.
The winner of this bout in the quarterfinals will face the winner of the Ayoub Ghadfa (Spain) vs. Kamshybek Kunkabayev (Kazakhstan) match.
Interestingly, Chaloyan will not meet the main favorite of the tournament, Bakhodir Jalolov from Uzbekistan, until the final, as he will compete on the opposite side of the bracket. His first opponent will be Norwegian Omar Shiha.
However, Chaloyan's probable opponent in the quarterfinals is also one of the tournament's favorites—Kamshybek Kunkabayev from Kazakhstan, bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympics and two-time silver medalist at the World Championships.
