"Five Directions" is a unique sports-educational institution in the Republic of Dagestan. The school was founded by the Magomayev family, Huseyn and Olga. The official existence of "Five Directions" began in 1996. The name of the school has a sacred meaning and refers to the cosmic fifth direction, access to which can be obtained by connecting the four main directions: north, south, east, and west.
In the Dagestani "Shaolin," 300-400 students are trained. The goal of the school is the comprehensive development of a child, both academically and athletically. Students attend classes in mathematics, Russian and English languages, history, art, and many other subjects. They combine their studies with training in wushu-sanda and taekwondo several times a week. Students stay at the school permanently, except for school holidays. Enrollment begins from the fifth grade after passing academic exams, and only boys are accepted for permanent residence. The school has developed a very strict study and upbringing program. Many wish to study at the "Five Directions" school, and the flow of applicants extends beyond Dagestan, with children coming from all over Russia.
The Dagestani school has produced more champions of Russia, Europe, and the world in wushu-sanda than any other. It is rightfully considered a forge of champions in this sport, earning it the name "Shaolin of Dagestan."
The graduates of the school have achieved high results on the international sports stage. They are the best athletes in disciplines such as wushu-sanda, taekwondo, and mixed martial arts. In 2015, "Five Directions" won the All-Russian competition "100 Best Schools of Russia."
