Armenian boxer David Chaloyan (+92 kg) won his first bout at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, defeating Britain's Delicious Orie and advancing to the quarterfinals.
Delicious Orie won the first round by unanimous decision, but David significantly improved in the next two rounds, showing character and seizing crucial moments by landing punches from difficult positions.
In the end, David Chaloyan won by a split decision with a score of 3-2. Before the fight, Delicious Orie was considered the favorite, having defeated Chaloyan at the 2023 European Games, but the Armenian managed to take revenge and win the most important fight of his life — his first bout on the Olympic stage.
In the quarterfinals, David Chaloyan will box against Spain's Ayub Gadfa, who sensationally defeated Kazakhstan's Kamshybek Kunkabayev.
