The boxer representing Denmark, Nikolai Terteryan, lost in the quarterfinals of the 71 kg weight category at the Olympic Games to the reigning world champion Asakhudja Muydinkhujaev from Uzbekistan.
The match ended with the Uzbekistani winning by unanimous decision of the judges. Thus, Muydinkhujaev secured at least a bronze medal at the Olympics, and in the semifinals, he will face American Omari Jones.
The 23-year-old Nikolai Terteryan began his Olympic journey in the round of 16, where he defeated the Frenchman Makan Traore.
