Nikolai Terteryan is the son of former Armenian national team boxer Tigran Terteryan, who stayed in Denmark after an unsuccessful 1996 European Championship in Vejle. Nikolay has three other brothers, all of whom are involved in boxing and represent Denmark in different age groups. Nikolay's twin brother, Sebastian, also participated in the Olympic qualifiers but did not qualify. Nikolai is the winner of the 2023 European Games and the 2022 Strandja Cup. He is considered one of the main favorites of the Paris Olympics.
