Last week, United World Wrestling (UWW) reallocated 16 quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On Monday, further reallocation of eight more quotas took place. This happened after eight athletes from Russia, competing under a neutral flag (AIN), decided to withdraw from the Games before the application deadline of July 8.
Of all the withdrawn athletes, only one wrestler in the 65 kg freestyle category decided to keep his quota - Shamil Mamedov.
The reallocation of quotas was carried out by UWW to the next highest-ranked National Olympic Committee (NOC) that had not yet qualified for the competition, considering the maximum quota per country and gender. The same process was applied for the reallocation of eight quotas this week.
