On the second day of the European Boxing Championships 2024 two athletes - Artur Sahakyan (60 kg) and Vakhtang Harutyunyan (75 kg) - boxed in the national team of Armenia, but only one of them managed to win and go further in the tournament.
In 1/8 finals of the weight category up to 60 kg Artur Sahakyan will meet an Armenian from Akhalkalaki, representing Georgia. Sahakyan managed to win by a split decision of the judges and advanced to the 1/4 finals.
60 kg, 1/8 finals: Artur Sahakyan (Armenia) - Artush Gomtsyan (Georgia) 4:1.
Vakhtang Harutyunyan lost to the Hungarian by unanimous decision. In the third round the Armenian sent his opponent to knockdown, but it was not enough for victory.
75 kg, 1/8 finals: Vakhtang Harutyunyan (Armenia) - Mester Soma (Hungary) 0:5.
On April 20, Gurgen Madoyan (71 kg), Rafael Hovhannisyan (80 kg), Narek Manasyan (92 kg) and Davit Chaloyan (+92 kg) will compete in the Armenian national team.
