In the first match of the Olympic Games in football, the Moroccan national team sensationally defeated Argentina with a score of 2-1.
Morocco opened the scoring in the 45th minute thanks to a goal by Soufiane Rahimi, and in the 51st minute, Rahimi scored a double with a penalty. Argentina responded only in the 68th minute when Giuliano Simeone reduced the gap. In the 106th minute, Cristian Medina scored a goal to equalize, but the goal was canceled after a long VAR review due to offside.
After Medina's goal, Moroccan fans began to protest and stormed the field. The match was suspended, and the referee took the players off the field. After a one and a half hour break, the game resumed and was finished without spectators. In the end, the victory remained with Morocco.
