Armenian boxer Rafael Hovhannisyan (80 kg) defeated Japanese Go Wakai 3-2 in a very tense fight and made it to the 1/4 finals of the Olympic qualification.
Rafael lost in the first round according to the judges' assessments, but then added very strongly and deservedly took the victory.

Rafael's next opponent is Iran's Meysam Geshlaghi, who defeated the Mongolian 5-0.
Rafael needs two more wins to get an Olympic quota, or if he loses in the semi-final, there will be another bout with the loser of the other semi-final. There are only three quotas at this weight.
