Just yesterday Gegard Mousasi was out of his PFL contract, and already today he received a very tempting offer. The Russian martial arts league RCC wants a rematch between Gegard Mousasi (49-9-2) and Alexander Shlemenko (65-15-1).
Shlemenko is the one who wants it, one of the greatest Russian MMA fighters himself wrote to the RCC league president that he wants a rematch with Mousasi. RCC executive director Nikolai Klimenko promised that he will do everything possible to organise the fight at the end of 2024.
RCC head Nikolai Klimenko spoke about Alexander Shlemenko's desire to rematch Gegard Mousasi in an exclusive interview with MMA.Metaratings.ru.
‘This morning when I got up, I received an audio message from Alexander Shlemenko that he wants this rematch. We will work in this direction, we will contact managers. And at the end of the year we'll see some cool fight, some confrontation with Alexander in the RCC. Either it will be Mousasi, or it will be another cool star fighter,’ Klimenko said.
Shlemenko and Mousasi fought in October 2017 at Bellator. Then Gegard confidently won by unanimous decision of judges, but the fight turned out to be very entertaining and interesting.
Now the fighters are already at the end of their careers, Gugard is 38 years old, and Shlemenko - 40. Together they have fought over 130 fights and won 114 victories.
