We present to you the results of Armenian athletes in various tournaments in early June 2024, which were not separately published on the website but deserve mention.
World Muay Thai Championship 2024
In early June, Armenian athletes participated in the World Muay Thai Championship, which gathered the strongest fighters from around the world.
Narek Khachikyan (57 kg) showed a high level of skill. In one of his matches, he achieved an impressive victory over a strong Thai fighter. However, in the quarterfinals, Narek faced a serious opponent — the 2021 world champion, Darren Rolland from France. The fight ended with a 2-1 victory for the Frenchman. Despite this, many believe that Narek deserved to win and was unfairly judged. Ultimately, Darren Rolland became a two-time world champion.
Roman Sedrakyan (60 kg) and Hayk Chilingaryan (60 kg, U23) could not overcome the early stages and lost their initial bouts.
Ovsep Aslanyan (51 kg), representing Russia, demonstrated outstanding results and became the world champion.
European Streetball Championship Qualifiers
The Armenian streetball team, consisting of four young players from BKMA, participated in the qualifying matches. Unfortunately, the team lost all matches and finished last in their group, playing against the national teams of Albania, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, and Kosovo.
World Shooting Cup in Munich
At the World Shooting Cup held in Munich, Armenian shooters also participated:
Elmira Karapetyan finished 62nd in the 10-meter pistol qualification.
Benik Khlgatyan finished 37th in the same category.
However, the mixed pair Karapetyan/Khlgatyan showed more impressive results, finishing in 4th place.
