On the seventh day of the Olympic Games, August 2, 23 sets of medals were awarded. France and Australia made a significant leap forward, narrowing the gap with China. The USA was left without a gold medal today but, as always, secured many silver medals.
French swimmer Léon Marchand won his fourth gold medal in Paris. In the men’s BMX, all three podium positions were taken by the French.
Neutral athletes also won their first gold medal. This was achieved by Belarusian Ivan Litvinovich in trampoline gymnastics.
