Adam Krikorian, the 49-year-old head coach of the USA women's water polo team, is once again preparing for Olympic victories. Krikorian, who has already led the team to three Olympic gold medals, aims to win a fourth consecutive gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He was born in California to Armenian parents Gary Krikorian and Joyce Srabian.
Krikorian started his career as a player, playing for UCLA from 1992 to 1995. After finishing his playing career, he transitioned to coaching, leading both the men's and women's teams at UCLA, achieving significant success. Under his leadership, the US women's water polo team won numerous titles, including gold medals at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Games, as well as many world championships and world cups.
Adam Krikorian has been leading the US team since 2009, and during this time, he has won 5 world championships, 11 FINA World Leagues, 4 FINA World Cups, and, of course, three Olympic Games.
Krikorian is recognized as one of the most successful coaches in water polo history, receiving numerous awards, including the USOC National Coach of the Year in 2013 and the Jack Kelly Fair Play Award.
Under his leadership, the US women's team has dominated the world stage, staying at the top of the world rankings for most of his career.
Adam Krikorian and his team are aiming for another gold medal at the upcoming Olympic Games, striving to continue their winning streak and solidify the team's status as one of the greatest in water polo history.
The US women's water polo team will compete in Group B along with France, Italy, Spain, and Greece. The first match will take place on the first day of the Olympic Games, July 27, against Greece.
At the 2024 Olympic Games, there will be another Armenian coach in a team sport—Brian Goorjian, the head coach of the Australian basketball team.
