On August 8 in Paris, in the evening program, the medalists of the Olympic Games in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight categories up to 67 and 87 kg were determined. This was the last day when Greco-Roman wrestlers competed.
We have already learned the medalists of all weight categories and the results of the team standings in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Olympic Games. The first place in the team standings was confidently taken by the Iranian team, which leads the list with 101 points, having a significant lead over the second place. The second place went to the Cuban team with 59 points, and the third place was taken by the Kyrgyz team with 55 points. The Armenian team is in 5th place with 45 points.
The Iranian team won 4 medals in 6 weight categories: 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. The only weight categories where Iran failed to win medals were 77 kg and 60 kg. Amin Kavianejad, competing in the 77 kg weight category, lost to Armenian athlete Malkhas Amoyan in the quarterfinals. Amoyan, in turn, lost to future Olympic champion from Japan Nao Kusaka in the semifinals. Mehdi Mohsennejad, competing in the 60 kg weight category, lost to future Olympic champion from Japan Kenichiro Fumita in the quarterfinals, and in the fight for the bronze medal, he lost to Kyrgyz Zholoman Sharshenbekov.
