Russian wrestler Shamil Mamedov, who received the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) admission, has refused to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris. This was reported to TASS by the Russian Wrestling Federation.
"The situation with the participation of wrestler Shamil Mamedov in the Olympic Games has been clarified. On Saturday, Mamedov made a final decision on his inability to participate in the Olympics due to a relapse of injury. The wrestler notified the IOC of the decision," the Russian Wrestling Federation said.

The Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11. Russian and Belarusian athletes are still subject to restrictions. In Paris, they will be able to perform only in a neutral status, they will be forbidden to demonstrate any connection with their countries and participate in team competitions. The Russian authorities consider the corresponding decision of the IOC discriminatory and contrary to the Olympic principles.
