In the Group A match at EURO-2024, Switzerland secured a convincing victory over Hungary with a score of 3-1. Despite all the efforts of the Hungarian team and even the presence of 100-kilogram Martin Ádám on the field, Hungary couldn't avoid defeat.
The match was opened in the 12th minute by Kwadwo Duah, who capitalized on a defensive error by the opponent. This was the first goal for the 27-year-old Ludogorets forward for the Swiss national team. Just before halftime, Aebischer doubled Switzerland's advantage, giving the team additional confidence going into the second half. However, Hungary didn't give up, and in the 66th minute, Barnabás Varga, a clubmate of Sevikyan, reduced the deficit, bringing intrigue back to the game.
Nevertheless, the Swiss team didn't allow the opponent to equalize, and in the final minutes of the match, Breel Embolo sealed the victory by scoring the third goal in added time. The final whistle confirmed Switzerland's 3-1 win.
Granit Xhaka was named the best player of the match, not only confidently acting in the center of the field but also becoming a true leader of the team, directing the game and maintaining the pace.
Now, Germany and Switzerland lead Group A with three points each.
