Sad news has come from Russia. In Rostov-on-Don, former Yerevan "Ararat" footballer Kalin Stepanyan has passed away. He was the head coach of the "Nakhichevan-na-Donu" club.
“Kalin Stepanyan lost consciousness during a match of the Rostov region championship. His heart stopped during the game. Kalin only managed to conduct the warm-up for his team before the match against the "Stroitel-M" club. At some point, he felt unwell and lost consciousness. An ambulance arrived on the field, but they could not save Stepanyan,” reports Mash.
Kalin Stepanyan was born in Shamkhor, a city populated by Armenians, in the Azerbaijan SSR. He began his football career in the legendary "Ararat" in 1976, but spent most of his playing career in the clubs of North Ossetia. He is considered a legend of the "Alania" club and is highly respected in Vladikavkaz.
