On August 6 in Paris, the first medalists of the Olympic Games in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight categories up to 60 and 130 kg and 68 kg in women's wrestling were announced. The final fights in all weight categories have already taken place and now the medal winners are known.
In the weight category up to 68 kg in women's wrestling, the newly-minted Olympic champion was the representative of the USA Amit Elor. At the age of 20 years, 8 months and 7 days, she set a record as the youngest Olympic champion in the history of the USA, surpassing such legendary wrestlers as Henry Sijudo (21 years old) and Kyle Snyder (20 years and 9 months).
On the way to the final, Amit Elor demonstrated outstanding skills. In the 1/8 finals, she defeated the current world champion from Turkey Buse Tosun with a score of 10:0. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Polish wrestler Viktoria Holuj with a score of 8:0, and in the semifinals, she easily defeated the representative of the DPRK, Sol Pak, with a score of 10:0.
In the final fight for gold, she met with the representative of Kyrgyzstan, Merima Zhumanazarova. The fight ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of Amit, and she became the youngest Olympic champion in the history of the USA.
