Hovhannes Hovhannisyan (61kg) brought the first medal for the Armenian national team at the European U-17 Championships in Thessaloniki.
Hovhannes Hovhannisyan showed a total result of 234 kilograms (107 in snatch and 127 in deadlift), which allowed him to win gold in his weight category in total, as well as in snatch and deadlift separately. Second place went to Dan Betza of Moldova with 229 kilograms (103+126) and third place went to Maciej Tomaszewski of Poland with 220 kilograms (99+121).
